Once Upon a Time

Once upon a time...

There was a perfect girl. She had a perfectly put together life. She ran a perfect home and she was the perfect wife and mother... Happily ever after. The End.

If this is the kind of story you are looking for then I am afraid you have come to the wrong place. We certainly do not do perfect around here. This is a place for sharing real life. The messiness, the awkwardness, and the hilariousness that my life usually is. I am a Christian trying to find authentic faith, a wife trying to keep my marriage on fire, and a mother trying to raise decent human beings. I am here to share the struggle with whoever wants to be a part of it.

I'm Jessica, the author of this blog. I am 26 years old. I find myself in awkward situations so often that I have come to realize that I am the common denominator. I hate small talk. I love to share (sometimes too much) real life with people. I am of the firm belief that we should not hide our flaws but love each other in spite of them. I like food, mainly of the carb persuasion. Wet feet make me feel like I am going to die. I love all music. The beach is my happy place. I am passionate about my marriage, and all things mommy-related. Target is the land of my people, and I have a pretty serious coffee addiction. I also deeply care about the 901 and racial reconciliation.

I am married to Brandon, a bearded stud of a man who makes every day of my life better. I never imagined how much fun it would be to share my life with another person. He is a man that I not only respect but also genuinely think is one of the most hilarious humans who has ever lived. I am head over heals, still get butterflies when he walks in, deeply in love with him. He works a copywriter for an advertising agency. He loves me and our boys fiercely. He likes to nerd out with super heroes and board games. He does passionately hates tuna fish. I have recently converted him to my coffee addicted ways (well me and our youngest son who refuses to sleep... ever!). He has too many talents to list them all, but to name a few, he is a beautiful writer, a fantastic storyteller, and a compassionate hard-working leader of our home.

We have been blessed to find ourselves the parents two incredible little boys. The oldest is Noah. He is a sweet and thoughtful little guy. He has a gentle and sensitive spirit. A stern look will bring him to tears. The kid has an imagination that blows my mind. He is constantly acting out scenes from his books and shows and he has several imaginary friends. He exclusively eats chicken nuggets and grilled cheese. He loves super heroes, dinosaurs, and Daniel Tiger. His favorite song is Ice Ice Baby. His favorite place to be is the zoo.

The littlest is Bowen. He loves people. If people are around and talking to him his little heart is content. He is so curious about the world and what everyone is doing at all times. He does not want to miss a single thing ever. He does not like to sleep and will fight with everything he has to make sure he is awake and experiencing the world as long as possible. He is assertive. He knows what he wants and he will not stop until he gets it. I fully believe he is going to be a very driven and passionate person. He is going to do amazing things with his life. However, for now he is busy making my hair grey -- one mess at a time.

If you find any of this to be relatable or interesting then please join me on my blogging journey. I love to talk about all of these things and I can't wait to share my life with you!
